How we set sail…

Castaway’s CEO, Shael Morgan, first forayed into the food service business at age 18 while in college. She was a music major, but enjoyed the energy and creativity of restaurants so much, she kept working in them.

In 2005, Shael and her husband James opened a restaurant in Land O Lakes, FL, a few miles north of Tampa. Needing some type of gimmick to attract customers, Shael developed a deadly sauce now known as Blackbeard’s Revenge. The Blackbeard sauce created notoriety and attracted the attention of local TV and radio stations, as well as the Travel Channel network and the producers of Man v Food Nation. It was then Castaway Sauce Company was born.

It was easy enough to sell the sauce out of the restaurant, but once the sauce was depleted, Castaway went on hiatus. The restaurant was sold and the Morgan crew set sail to Gainesville to be closer to their college kids.

After numerous inquiries, Castaway is now back in the water to tempt the palates of new generations as well as old friends.
